  My Dreams:

Ladies and Gentlemen , Good afternoon! I’m very glad to stand here and give you a short speech. today my topic is "youth". I hope you will like it .

I want to be a teacher when I listen to my teacher carefully. I think I can be a teacher when I grow up. I can help many students learn things well. I can play with my students, too. So we are good friends. I want to be a doctor when I see many doctors save their patients. To be a doctor is really great.

I think I can be a doctor when I grow up. Then I can help many people out of danger.

I will be the happiest girl in the world. I want to be a reporter when I watch TV every evening. We can get lots of important information from them. They make the world smaller and also make us happy. I would like to be a reporter when I grow up.

And I can learn a lot about China and the other countries around the world. I can meet many superstars as well. I have lots of dreams. I think my dreams can come true one day, because there’s an old saying "where there is a will, there is a way."

英语演讲稿4

We all have a dream no matter what it is. When I went to kindergarten the first day, the teacher asked my dream. I remembered I said I would be a scientist quickly, though I had no idea about what it was on earth. As time went by, the older I grew, the more I know. I know being a scientist is not a easy job. It is just a delusion as a child. Now I know my aspiration.

I set the dream, being an international tour conductor for my life. Majoring in English is ready for it. In some degree, being an international tour conductor is the motion to choose the major. If I can speak English well, it would be better for me to communicate with foreigners.

This year I’m a sophomore, I know what the college is for me, I know the world around me and my career plan should carry on from now on.

I think it is possible, because I love the job, I have the passion. On the other hand I have the potential to do this job. I’m outgoing, easygoing and of course I like getting along with the strangers. Mostly importantly, I’m patient which is a basic essence in the tourist industry. The gift of tongues and my inner quality must contribute to this.

What should do next is to obtain the tourist certificate. It is an admission ticket to get in this traveling field. I will work for it. Then I will be harder at learning English: listen, read, translate, speak; leading to make my voice heard and communicate more fluently which is really something.

Then the important role is time management which is a vital step on the way to dream. If I make the full use of it, that is to say, what the time really counts is what the end is after its gradual cumulation, it will be easier for me to realize my career dream. During the weekdays every week, I will make out the schedule to remind myself what I need to do next. Step by step, day after day, I will make little progress everyday. At last it wouldn’t be little.

I only have three years to prepare for it in the college which is a good place to learn and develop for me. Now I’m saving up strength to start out. There is a long way to go. I will try my best to achieve the goal.

No one knows what will happen next! Everything is possible, if we work hard. What my future would be like? It is up to me not others.

Anyway, it must be an unusual experience to build my own future, hold on the dream and take action.

英语演讲稿5

Since the quality of honesty applies to all behaviors, one cannot refuse to consider factual information, for example, in an unbiased manner and still claim that one's knowledge, belief or position is an attempt to be truthful. Such a belie

f is clearly a product of one's desires and simply has nothing to do with the human ability to know. Basing one's positions on what one wants — rather than unbiased evidence gathering — is dishonest even when good intentions can be cited — after all even Hitler could cite good intentions and intended glory for a select group of people. Clearly then, an unbiased approach to the truth is a requirement of honesty.

Because intentions are closely related to fairness and certainly affect the degree of honesty/dishonesty, there is a wide spread confusion about honesty--and a general belief that being dishonest means that one ALWAYS correctly understands if their behavior is either honest or dishonest. Self-perception of our morality is non-static and volatile.

It's often at the moment we refuse to consider other perspectives that there is a clear indication we are not pursuing the truth, rather than simply and exclusively at the moment we can muster up evidence that we are right. Socrates had much to say about truth, honesty and morality, and explained that if people really understood that their behavior was wrong — then they simply wouldn't do it — by definition.

Unfortunately, honesty in the western tradition has been marginalized to specific instances — perhaps because a thorough understanding of honesty collides with ideologies of all types. Ideologies and idealism often exaggerate and suppress evidence in order to support their perspectives — at the eXPense of the truth.

This process erodes the practice and understanding of honesty. To an ideologist the truth quite often becomes insignificant, what matters most are their ideals and what ever supports their desires to enjoy and spread those ideals.

Human beings are inherently biased about what they believe to be good due to individual tastes & backgrounds, but once one understands that a decidedly biased approach to what is true — is inherently dishonest, one can also understand how idealism and ideology have poorly served the quest for an honest, moral society. Both honesty and morality require that we base our opinions about what is good — upon unbiased ideas of what is TRUE — rather than vice versa (determining what is true based on what we feel is good) — the way all ideologies would have us believe.

英语演讲稿6

Do I Need To Like Myself?

Yes! People who don't like themselves are a pain in the neck!

Usually, people with a poor self-image use one of two irritating strategies. They either:

  a) criticize you a lot or

  b) they criticize themselves a lot.

STRATEGY A: They criticize you a lot. They figure that by criticizing other people they can feel better about themselves.

Let's take Fred, who feels inferior. Fred thinks he has a big nose and piggy eyes. He also secretly feels a bit stupid.

So what's his strategy to feel better about himself? He criticizes all his friends. He has names for them like “Flathead”, “Chicken Legs” and “Dogbrain”. Whenever someone else makes a mistake, he announces it to the whole class. (He probably doesn't even realize he criticizes people—or why he does it.)

If you have parents, friends or brothers and sisters who don't like themselves—they might criticize you and everyone around them. Just remember that they criticize you because they have a problem. If you remember that they are actually hurting inside, you won't get so upset by their behaviour.

STRATEGY B: Some people who don't like themselves criticize themselves a lot. They use reverse psychology...

Take Mary who doesn't like herself. She's always telling you, “You are prettier than me. You are smarter. Nobody likes me.” She's hoping that you will reply, “No Mary! You are clever. You are beautiful.” After a while, people like Mary get on your nerves!

  In a nutshell

When we don't like ourselves, we irritate other people. We also put ourselves through a lot of stress. When we accept ourselves a little better, we don't play these games.

  How Can I Like Myself﹖

In our hearts, most of us believe we should be doing better. We think that we should have gotten higher grades. We want to be popular and hang out with the “in” crowd. We feel we don't measure up to our parents' expectations. Our parents help to confirm this idea when they ask, “Why can't you be more like your brother?”

Whenever you are feeling low, be your own best friend. Accept that, up to now, you have lived your life the best way you know how. No one sets out to screw up their life! Like anyone, you've done the odd stupid thing. With more information you'll likely do better in the future.

Liking yourself means forgiving yourself. If you have made some serious mistakes, if you have hurt some people—and yourself—feeling guilty won't help.

If you are feeling guilty about something, you have already suffered enough. Being guilty for another six months won't help anybody.

Forget perfection and aim for improvement.

It's a funny thing. When you forgive yourself for your own mistakes, you automatically begin to let others off the hook for the same things.

  “But I'm Not Brilliant...”

You might look at yourself and say, “I'm not as beautiful as my sister, I'm not as talented as my friends and I'm not brilliant at anything! How can I feel good about me?”

Fact: Nobody is good at everything and most of us have those thoughts!

But here's the lowdown! Talent and beauty are very useful—but there are plenty of talented and beautiful people around whom we don't necessarily admire. And some of them are a pan in the butt!

The qualities most of us value above all others are honesty, courage, persistence, generosity and humility. Take a look at this list and you'll find something interesting. You aren't born with these things. You develop them. Anyone can have them! If you want self-respect, and respect from others, you don't have to be an Einstein or a super-model.

You simply work at developing your own honesty, determination, generosity, humility and courage. It is called “character”.

  In a nutshell

How you feel about yourself is in your hands.

  My Dream

Everyone has his own dream, which can be realized or not and which can be different from time to time. However, there must be a long –term one in one’s mind. In other words, it is not easy to be realized. I have a dream: to pass CET-6 before I graduate from the university. It’s maybe easy for most of my classmates, but to me it is as difficult as cracking the hardest nut in the world. I have been studying English for about 10 years. It should not be the No.1 task in my university agenda, but too many failures forced me to do so. I entered one of the most famous universities in China with the almost lowest English mark among all my students. I was really disappointed about ough I was not good at English when I was in the middle school, it was not at least about the average. I had no strength to face the frustration. After a semester’s study I was the lowest indeed. I have never cried for study before, but this time I shed tears. Since then I made up my mind to pass CET-6 before my graduation.

Glanced back to my English studying experience, I realized that interest is one of the key factors to grasp knowledge. I study English only for the examination before, but not the language itself. That is the weakest point of me. I must overcome it so as to realize my dream. I made a plan: read one story until I can recite it each day; listen to the tapes related to the books as well. English is not so disgusting for me now. I will persist in doing so even after I pass CET-6. I wish my English would be as good as my native language in the future.

Smoking is not as commonplace and is subject to restrictions in most public places. Before smoking, the best policy is to ask if anyone minds, or wait to see if others smoke. Restaurants often have a section where smoking is permitted; many hotels designate rooms as smoking and non-smoking.

A handshake is the customary greeting for both men and women, although you should wait to see if the woman offers her hand.

Apart from greeting close family members or friends, Americans tend to refrain from greetings that involve hugging and other close physical contact. For the most part, they are unreceptive to being touched during conversation and other social situations.

The standard space between you and your conversation partner should be about two feet. Most U.S. exxecutives will be uncomfortable standing at a closer distance.

Direct eye contact conveys that you are sincere, although it should not be too intense. Certain ethnic groups will look away to show respect.

Friends or acquaintances of the same sexx generally do not hold hands.

To point, you may use the indexx finger, although it's impolite to point at another person.

To beckon someone, wave either all the fingers or just the indexx finger in a scooping motion, with the palm facing up.

To show approval, there are two common gestures: the “O.K.” sign, formed by making a circle of the thumb and indexx finger, and the “thumbs up” sign, formed by making a fist and pointing the thumb upward.

英语演讲稿9

I gave this talk at Facebook not so long ago to about 100 employees, and a couple hours later, there was a young woman who works there sitting outside my little desk, and she wanted to talk to me. I said, okay, and she sat down, and we talked. And she said, "I learned something today. I learned that I need to keep my hand up." "What do you mean?"She said, "You're giving this talk, and you said you would take two more questions. I had my hand up with many other people, and you took two more questions. I put my hand down, and I noticed all the women did the same, and then you took more questions, only from the men." And I thought to myself,"Wow, if it's me — who cares about this, obviously — giving this talk — and during this talk.

英语演讲稿10

I can't even notice that the men's hands are still raised, and the women's hands are still raised, how good are we as managers of our companies and our organizations at seeing that the men are reaching for opportunitiesmore than women?" We've got to get women to sit at the age number two: Make your partner a real partner. I've become convinced that we've made more progress in the workforce than we have in the home. The data shows this very clearly. If a woman and a man work full-time and have a child, the woman does twice the amount of housework the man does, and the woman does three times the amount of childcare the man does. So she's got three jobs or two jobs, and he's got one. Who do you think drops out when someone needs to be home more? The causes of this are really complicated, and I don't have time to go into them. And I don't think Sunday football-watching and general laziness is the cause.

My future As the song goes “ My future isn’t a dream .” I love the song which brings me confidence when singing it every time . I believe that all our dreams can come true if we have courage to pursue them .When I was young my father always asked me what I would be in the future . Sometimes I found it very hard to give a certain reply . “ I want to be a doctor .” “ I want to be a teacher .” and “ I ’d like to be a scientist !” Many of these answers are perhaps very childish and ridiculous . But I never think they are far away . How time flies! Who is able to give a definition to his future ? I know clearly that those high buildings are based on solid foundation . As a student , I should have a reasonable aim , and study hard . My goal is to enter the best university for further study after middle school . I know it’s hard work , and I ’ll come across many difficulties and frustrations . But no matter what they are , I’ll keep working on it and never give up . My teacher says there ’s only one kind of people that are truly successful : those who are brave enough to put up with hardships . Even if I won’t achieve the goal , I have no regrets for what I have done , for I have struggled for my life .

  Christmas Morning

light drizzle was falling as my sister Jill and I ran out of the Methodist Church, eager to get home and play with the presents that Santa had left for us and our baby sister,Sharon. Across the street from the church was a Pan American gas station where the Greyhound bus stopped. It was closed for Christmas, but I noticed a family standing outside the locked door, huddled under the narrow overhang in an attempt to keep dry. I wondered briefly why they were there but then forgot about them as I raced to keep up with Jill.

Once we got home, there was barely time to enjoy our presents. We had to go off to our grandparents' house for our annual Christmas dinner. As we drove down the highway through town,I noticed that the family was still there, standing outside the closed gas station.

My father was driving very slowly down the highway. The closer we got to the turnoff for my grandparents' house, the slower the car went. Suddenly,my father U-turned in the middle of the road and said,“I can’t stand it!”

  “What?” asked my mother.

“It's those people back there at the Pan Am,standing in the rain. They’ve got children. It's Christmas. I can’t stand it.”

When my father pulled into the service station,I saw that there were five of them:the parents and three children — two girls and a small boy.

My father rolled down his window. “Merry Christmas,” he said.

“Howdy,” the man replied. He was very tall and had to stoop slightly to peer into the car.

Jill,Sharon, and I stared at the children, and they stared back at us.

“You waiting on the bus?” my father asked.

The man said that they were. They were going to Birmingham, where he had a brother and prospects of a job.

“Well, that bus isn't going to come along for several hours, and you’re getting wet standing here. Winborn's just a couple miles up the road. They’ve got a shed with a cover there, and some benches,” my father said. “Why don't y'all get in the car and I’ll run you up there.”

The man thought about it for a moment, and then he beckoned to his family. They climbed into the car. They had no luggage, only the clothes they were wearing. Once they settled in,my father looked back over his shoulder and asked the children if Santa had found them yet. Three glum faces mutely gave him his answer.

“Well,I didn't think so,” my father said, winking at my mother,“because when I saw Santa this morning,he told me that he was having trouble finding y’all, and he asked me if he could leave your toys at my house. We'll just go get them before I take you to the bus stop.”

All at once, the three children's faces lit up,and they began to bounce around in the back seat, laughing and chattering.

When we got out of the car at our house, the three children ran through the front door and straight to the toys that were spread out under our Christmas tree. One of the girls spied Jill's doll and immediately hugged it to her breast. I remember that the little boy grabbed Sharon’s ball. And the other girl picked up something of mine. All this happened a long time ago,but the memory of it remains clear. That was the Christmas when my sisters and I learned the joy of making others happy.

My mother noticed that the middle child was wearing a short-sleeved dress,so she gave the girl Jill's only sweater to wear.

My father invited them to join us at our grandparents' for Christmas dinner, but the parents refused. Even when we all tried to talk them into coming, they were firm in their decision.

Back in the car,on the way to Winborn,my father asked the man if he had money for bus fare.

His brother had sent tickets, the man said.

My father reached into his pocket and pulled out two dollars, which was all he had left until his next payday. He pressed the money into the man's hand. The man tried to give it back, but my father insisted. “It’ll be late when you get to Birmingham, and these children will be hungry before then. Take it. I've been broke before, and I know what it’s like when you can't feed your family.”

We left them there at the bus stop in Winborn. As we drove away,I watched out the window as long as I could, looking back at the little girl hugging her new doll.

Ladies and Gentlemen , Good afternoon! Im very glad to stand here and give you a short speech. today my topic is “youth”。 I hope you will like it , and found the importance in your youth so that more cherish it.

First I want to ask you some questions: 1、 Do you know what is youth? 2、 How do you master your youth?

Youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind it is not rosy cheeks , red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions : it is the freshness it is the freshness of the deep springs of life 。

Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 。 Nobody grows old merely by a number of years 。 We grow old by deserting our ideals.

Years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul 。 Worry , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust 。

Whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of whats next and the joy of the game of living 。 In the center of your heart and my heart theres a wireless station : so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long as you are young 。

When the aerials are down , and your spirit is covered with snnows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but as long as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you may die young at 80. Thats all ! Thank you!

英语演讲稿15

For every person I’ve named, for every example I’ve cited, there are thousands of other Harvard citizens – students and alumni, faculty and staff – who are making the world better in more ways than we could possibly imagine. That is the power of this institution – not its brand, not our buildings, not our pomp and circumstance (as wonderful and terrific as that is). This University, Harvard, is its people – their aspirations, their achievements – their diversity of background, experience and thought – their desire to see beyond themselves and their devotion to serving others.

So, yes, I am an optimist. I’m an optimist because I live and work among all of you – because I see what you can do and because I know the boundless potential of what you can do. May we look to one another for inspiration in the years to come. May the expectations placed on us be exceeded only by our ability to meet them. And may Harvard continue to be a wellspring of hope for the world. It’s an honor to serve you as your president.

Congratulations to our newest alumni – and thank you to all.
